This is why my generation is so corrupted…

It’s 5:20 AM and I am still wide awake. So to help cure my boredom, I present to you the most subliminally pornographic commercial from our childhood. Who doesn’t remember this lovely one?

I’m gonna need a new wardrobe soon

So I’ve burned off a bunch of weight over the last few months and I’m starting to worry about the fact that I am going to need a whole bunch of new pants and belts soon. As seen in the pics, even putting my belt on it’s last notch is still a little loose. And I used to be able to wear the pants (which are a size 36″ waist) without the need for a belt back when I got them in March. Now if I don’t have a belt on, they’ll just fall off.

I’m not complaining whatsoever though. I couldn’t be happier of the fact that I can barely keep my pants up (no joke intended but take it as you’d like to). I’ve still got a bit to go before I’m at my ideal size though so I should probably hold out before going on another shopping spree at Express.

So yeah, looks like this weight loss venture is gonna cost me a bunch. Haha.

For Sarah

Here ya go Sarah. I was walking around town with Jen and saw this in the window of a Gap and it immediately made me think of you :)

Classic Nick fills my heart again…

While I sit here still wide awake at 5:00 AM, I did my usual tech blog browsing. During which, I came across an article that made me almost literally jump for joy. Gizmodo has reported that some of the greatest kids shows of all time back from before Nickelodeon turned into a steaming pile of cow shit have gracefully appeared on iTunes for your downloading pleasure. Hopefully this is just the beginning and we will see even more in the near future but the amount that has been made available so far is awesome.

Unfortunately, Ren And Stimpy is not available (but hopefully that will change) so the lovely Powdered Toast Man (seen above) isn’t quite iTunes ready.

So as I wait for season one of Doug to finish downloading (one of my favorite shows ever), I will continue to reminisce of the good ol’ days when Nickelodeon warmed the hearts of the kids of my generation with nothing less than the best quality kids entertainment available.

Click the read link for the complete list of the currently available shows (as originally written over at Gizmodo)…

Yeah yeah yeah, I gave in…

As if those that know me didn’t expect it or anything…

Yeah, I picked up the iPhone 3G last Thursday just for the hell of it. Got the white 16GB model. I must say that it does have a world of improvements over the first version. For example, the sound quality and the volume is much improved. Anyone that may be reading this post has surely already read plenty of reviews on the iPhone 3G so i’ll save my editorial points for another time. However, when people say that the battery life sucks, they are making an understatement. It’s flat out freakin’ horrendous.

And no, I have not and never will give up my love for my Nokia devices. I don’t even plan on using this iPhone for too long. But of course, the geek inside me just had to pick one up for a while just so he can say he did…

More to come…

iPhone 3G will make ya broke!

This made me lol…

OS2008 update is awesome!

If you own an N800 or an N810, I highly recommend performing the firmware update that was announced on the Maemo site. I performed the update shortly after yesterday’s blog post and have to say that this is much more than your standard minor bug fix update. The default Modest e-mail client rocks (bye bye crappy default e-mail client of the past!), the unit is running a lot smoother and quicker than it did on the day it first arrived, and the web browser is a lot more stable than it previously was (haven’t had any of the freezing or stuttering issues I used to). You do not need to worry about anything stored on either the internal or external memory card. None of that data will be touched during the process. But if you have data that you need stored to the device’s RAM, make sure you have it backed up. I chose to not back up my user data before flashing because some of my stuff like my contact list needed a cleanup anyways.

I’ll be spending a good amount of time over the next couple days reloading all my favorite applications again. I’ll report any stability issues that are found. Go Diablo!

Nokia delivers OS2008 update.

The long awaited and highly anticipated firmware update has been released for OS2008 and is currently available for download for your N800/N810. According to the Maemo site, this update includes the Seamless Software Update feature so future updates should be available OTA and without the need to re-flash the device. Unfortunately this time around requires the need to re-flash the unit. A small price to pay for bug fixes and new enhancements. According to Engadget, the changelog is very lengthy. However, they do point out that the update includes the very long awaited replacement of the default e-mail client with one based on Modest (which is what I was using anyways).

Once my N810 is done charging, I’ll be performing the firmware update. As much as I don’t want to re-flash, it’s a small price to pay. Besides, I can start with a clean slate and re-load just the stuff I want. Werd to your firmware flash!

R.I.P. George Carlin. 1937-2008.

I can’t even begin to express the horrible feeling I got when I discovered the news of the passing of world famous comedic mastermind George Carlin. Here is a quick excerpt from the article on Reuters…

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Comedian George Carlin, a counter-culture hero famed for his routines about drugs and dirty words, died of heart failure at a Los Angeles-area hospital on Sunday, a spokesman said. He was 71.

Carlin, who had a history of heart and drug-dependency problems, died at Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica about 6 p.m. PDT (2 a.m. British time) after being admitted earlier in the afternoon for chest pains, spokesman Jeff Abraham told Reuters.

George Carlin was possibly my favorite entertainer in all media. I could sit around and quote him word for word for hours and used quotes from him quite often while in discussions with friends and even family. I was fortunate enough to have gotten to see him live in Las Vegas a few years back and it was an unforgettable experience.

R.I.P. George. You will be very sadly missed by your uncountable amount of fans.
